(PHOTOS) Hundreds gather for snowy 2022 Casper Christmas tree lighting and parade

CASPER, Wyo. — The scene for Casper’s annual Downtown Christmas Parade and tree lighting ceremony at David Street Station looked right out of a John Hughes film as snow steadily fell on Saturday evening.

Hundreds of soggy Casper citizens sloshed through the slushy streets and sidewalks as floats drove by and candy flew through the air.

A large tent with a “living room” theme was set up at David Street Station to compensate for the missing ice skating rink in the plaza. Organizers weren’t able to secure the chiller this year, blaming lingering supply chain issues.

Even so, the tree lighting was met with cheers, applause and dancing before crowds moved to nearby 2nd Street and the Old Yellowstone Highway for the parade’s start.
