GILLETTE, Wyo. — A woman died and multiple people were injured following a multi-vehicle collision on South Douglas Highway on Monday morning, officials said Tuesday.

Laura D. Kenway, 32, has been identified as the woman who was found lying unresponsive on South Douglas Highway around 7:16 a.m. by Gillette Police officers who arrived to investigate reports of a crash on Jan. 23, according to Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson and Campbell County Coroner Paul Wallem.

Wasson said officers attempted life-saving measures on Kenway, who was ultimately transported to Campbell County Health, where she was pronounced deceased.

According to Wallem, Kenway succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash, though the coroner declined to specify an official cause of death with his office awaiting the conclusion of various reports relating to the incident.

Kenway is believed to have been involved in a four-vehicle collision on Jan. 23 in which all drivers sustained injuries, per Wasson, who said the Wyoming Highway Patrol took over the scene and is investigating the crash.

Sgt. Jeremy Beck, media relations contact for the WHP, did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the ongoing investigation.
