CASPER, Wyo. — Kids these days.

In particular, a certain group of former Dean Morgan Junior High School students who have kept in touch with their middle school teachers and decided to lend them a hand on an especially snowy Monday afternoon.

“Huge rave to these Dean Morgan 8th grade boys who let us teachers sit inside and relax while they cleaned off many of our cars,” wrote Dean Morgan sixth-grade language arts teacher Stephanie Swedenburg Knight on a post to the Facebook group “Casper Rants and Raves” on Monday.

“I love my job, and I love my students,” she added.

In a message to Oil City News, Knight said the group consists of eighth graders who still visit their sixth-grade teachers from time to time and offered to come help staff dig out after schools were let out early due to the winter storm.

“In a world that is always looking to see the bad, it’s nice to celebrate the good and to recognize those who do it,” she said. “There is plenty of good to be seen every day.”

The kindness couldn’t have been better timed.

Monday started on a particularly stressful note when Natrona County High School was one of multiple public schools statewide that were victims of false active shooting calls, sending waves of first responders to schools and putting staff and students on lockdowns.

The positive vibes received nearly 700 interactions on the post as of Monday evening, with nearly 30 comments.

“Fantastic, never have I read anything so positive about young men in awhile,” said one comment.

“That is warming my heart. Great parents make amazing young adults. Very proud,” said another.

The group of young helpers will have plenty of time to warm up after digging through the snow on Monday: Natrona County students will stay home for virtual learning on Tuesday and school buildings will be closed due to the winter storm.
