CASPER, Wyo. — If you see smoke and fire on the mountain Saturday, don’t be alarmed.

The Casper Mountain Fire District says a prescribed burn is planned on Casper Mountain for Saturday, April 29.

“The Casper Mountain Fire District will be burning the slash pile located on Tower Hill which is South East of the Bear Trap Meadow area. There may be smoke visible from the Casper Metro area however, residents should not be alarmed,” an announcement said.

The burn is an annual event that ensures the fuel load in the slash pile is lessened before fire season. It also gives firefighters training and refreshes their skills, the district said.
