CASPER, Wyo. — Midwest High School celebrated its six-strong graduating class of 2023 during a ceremony at the school on Friday afternoon.

Five students joined the ceremony: Trinade Jost, Tae-Ree Nickleson, Valerie Liska, Jada Williams and Sinahi O’Brien. Cody Herzberg was unable to attend.

The small size of the class body allowed deep bonds with staff and each other over the students’ school careers, many of these bonds as long as the students could even remember.

During her commencement address, longtime Midwest School teacher Jolyn Hallgren recounted her memories of each graduating senior when they were a child.

“Some of you have been at Midwest schools since preschool, and I was fortunate enough to teach you from the beginning,” said Hallgren.

“You’ve already survived 100 percent of your toughest days,” she said. “You have control of you, and you get to decide what the next chapter of your life looks like.”
