CASPER, Wyo. — Natrona County residents will see signs of a large-scale disaster response including military personnel in the area next week.
Kiera Grogan with the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office said the exercise will take place from Monday, June 12 through Thursday, June 15 as part of the Vigilant Guard 23-3 operation.
Military personnel, first responders, homeland security and emergency management officials will be responding to staged emergency situations in undisclosed locations throughout the county and other counties across the state, according to the press release.
“The exercise will provide an opportunity to test response capabilities, coordination among agencies, and communication systems in a controlled environment,” Grogan said in the release.
Residents and visitors can expect to see smoke, hear sirens and see “an increased presence of emergency response personnel, military vehicles and aircraft” where the exercises are taking place, Grogan said.
“It is important to note that these activities are part of the exercise and not an actual emergency. There will be posted signage regarding the exercise in high-traffic areas,” Grogan said. “When appropriate, updates and additional information will be shared on the Natrona County Emergency Management official Facebook page.”
