On Tuesday, June 20th, City crews will close the Lake McKenzie Dog Park in order to conduct maintenance, this according to a statement from the Public Service Department.

The work will include weed control, tree trimming and maintenance, mowing, and other general park maintenance. To ensure the safety of dogs and their owners, the park will be closed to the public. The park will reopen on Friday, June 23rd at 5:00 p.m.

“City crews will be applying herbicides which require the area to be free of people and pets for at least four hours and we will also be using equipment for the spraying and for the tree work, so for the safety of the public we are closing the park,” stated Parks Manager Dan Coryell.

The closure is only for the fenced-in dog park and does not include the informal park area near the pond. Dog owners are encouraged to utilize the Morad Park off-leash area during the closure. Per City ordinance, dogs are only allowed to be off-leash at Morad and Lake McKenzie Parks.
