CASPER, Wyo — A 2-year-old male black bear weighing 80 pounds was sedated, transported and released in the Snowy Mountains in good condition with help from the Wyoming Game and Fish, according to the Laramie Police Department.

According to a Laramie PD release Saturday, the bear wandered around the city for about 6 hours. According to Game and Fish, the adolescent had likely recently left its mother to establish his own territory and made its way into Laramie.

“Thank you to all the citizens who called in sightings so that he could be safely caught and returned,” said Laramie PD.
