Families and friends in Casper looking for a fun way to test their team and problem solving skills will soon have another option at Stage III Community Theatre.

The theatre announced a new escape room which will run from January 19 to February 9. It will be the eighth escape room Stage III has organized.

Lorie Ordiway who helps design and implement Stage III’s escape room experiences explained that funds raised by the escape rooms go toward supporting the theater’s needs. Stage III is a nonprofit community theatre.

“Escape rooms really are about changing your perception and entering an area to do something new,” Ordiway said. “It seemed like a natural fit with the theater as a way to do a fundraiser.”

According to Ordiway, recent moviegoers nervous about the concept of escape rooms can put their fears aside.

“It’s not scary,” she said. “It is something that families can come enjoy.”

She went on to explain that children sometimes pick up on things their parents miss.

“You wouldn’t believe how often the little tykes find things and the adults don’t listen to them,” Ordiway noted. “It’s amazing how many times we have to say to a group as a clue, ‘I would listen to the little one!’”

Stage III’s escape rooms always share a theme with the theatre’s stage performances. The theme this time around: “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead”. The experience is titled “To Escape or Not to Escape.”

“It is an escape room fit for a king and no prior knowledge of Hamlet is needed to succeed,” a description on the online ticket page explains. The cost is $20 per person with a maximum group size of 6 people.

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead opens January 25th, with shows on January 26th, February 1st, 2nd, 8th, and 9th; with a curtain time of 7:30 pm. Matinees are also available February 3rd and 10th at 2:00 pm. Tickets available from Stage III.

Interested parties can follow the links on Stage III’s facebook page or by calling the theatre at 307-234-0946 to book a room.
