Frustrated by an apparent snub from Forbes Magazine, outspoken hiphop star Kanye West says he’s considering a name change.
According to Newsweek, West, who recently bought a large ranch near Cody, Wyoming, told attendees at the Fast Company Innovation Festival in New York that he wants to use the name to tell other black Americans to know it’s possible to achieve billionaire status.
“Martin Luther King didn’t get killed because he had a dream, he had something else he was going to talk about,” West is quoted as saying. “He talked about black empowerment, economic empowerment.”

West said “when I did Forbes, I showed them a $890 million receipt and they still didn’t say ‘billionaire.’ They don’t want us to know that we can buy land, they don’t want us to have the 100 percent ownership I have at Yeezy,” said West of Forbes’ decision not to classify him as a billionaire.
Yeezy is West’s merchandise and fashion brand that he hopes to use to bring more manufacturing jobs into the U.S., including Wyoming.
West has recently become a Christian convert, releasing a new religious album called “Jesus is King” and holding a number of outdoor church concerts, including one in Cody.
West has also recently dropped the idea of running for president in 2024, something the hosts of Fox and Friends discussed with approval on Friday morning.
