Weekend events roundup: Live music; Keyhole Burlesque returns to Pig

CASPER, Wyo . — The Oil City will be jamming all weekend long with live music from local talents and stadium headliners from the South. There will also be the “10th Annual Grant Street Cornhole-B-Que & S’morepalooza Camp Out.” Details and links are included below.

Keyhole Burlesque

Keyhole Burlesque declares that the Halloween season has begun with the troupe’s Friday the 13th Bumps ‘n Grinds performance at the Bourgeois Pig. The saucy troupe promises burlesque, drag, magic, showgirls and more with this “this frightful celebration of things dark, witchy, and Friday the 13th.”

“The Magic Bookcase” with Wyoming magician Byron Grey

  • 2:00 PM to 3:00 pm at The Lyric (230 W Yellowstone Hwy)

“The Magic Bookcase” is a 45-minute, family-friendly show combining scintillating stories based in fantasy and reality, according to the event post.

Live Music

Casper Singer-Songwriter Showcase

“Come hear the Casper competitors going to [the] Ten Sleep finals,” organizers said on social media. J&D’s Cajun Kitchen food truck will also be parked outside the venue, offering Cajun staples including jambalaya, fried fish, ‘gator, and more.

The Powell Brothers

The Station promises “a huge sound and high energy show from start to finish” from the country power duo traveling all the way from Houston, Texas. This is one of the last three shows rounding out the Station’s 2021 Summer Concert Series.

The southern arena rock institution has hits including “Hold On Loosely,” “Rockin’ Into the Night,” “Caught Up in You,” “Fantasy Girl,” “If I’d Been the One,” “Back Where You Belong,” “Chain Lightnin’,” and “Second Chance.”

Joe Nichols

“21st century traditionalist” Joe Nichols will bridge the gap between classic and modern country with an emphasis on 90s country, according to Gaslight Co-owner Pete Maxwell.

Lauren Podjun

  • “Families and patio pups are welcome.”

Playing original ukulele and piano tunes, Lauren tied for second in the 2020 Wyoming Singer-Songwriter Challenge and placed third in 2019.

According to the event post, this will be Podjun’s final show at the venue for the summer.

10th Annual Grant Street Cornhole-B-Que & S’morepalooza Camp Out

  • Saturday and Sunday
  • 733 Grant Ave. Casper

The event organizers advertise “Cornhole, smoked pig, kegs of craft beer, s’mores, and amazing people. … The smoker will be stoked and brimming with pig to ensure ample nourishment for the cornhole tournament.”

The cornhole tournament sign-up begins at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, and registration should be complete by 3:30 p.m. The buy-in is $10 per person and will pay out as follows:

  • 3rd Place: $10 per player
  • 2nd Place: $40 per player
  • 1st Place: Split of the remaining spoils
