CASPER, Wyo. — The Bourgeois Pig is hosting a night of rock on Wednesday, February 9 with established Casper-based Penny Auction and Charlie Benson opening up for Montana-based “psychedelic post-punk country garage roots rock” group King Ropes.

Penny Auction was formed in the interim between the disbanding of Juice Falcon and debut of Animal Bite. Guitarist Brandon Schulte said Penny Auction is going for a different sound from its previous iteration, bringing in electronics and drum machines.

Schulte will be indulging a yen to play thrash bass, vocalist Spike Jordan will also play guitar, and Joelle Spring will be on keyboards. Schulte said the music definitely fits into the “noise rock zone” with a “drone/psyche quality”; perhaps not as dark as the previous record, but “still pretty bleak, I’d say,” Schulte said.

Benson has been writing original works since the age of 12, primarily in the genres of country, rock, and blues.
