Officials with Casper-Fire EMS have announced their grief and sadness with the passing of one of their own.  Captain Matthew C. Trott died late Saturday, following a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.  Capt. Trott was with the Casper Fire-EMS for 21 years, having served in the rank as Captain for 12 years.

A statement titled “In Memoriam- Captain Matthew C. Trott” was sent to media by Casper Fire-EMS, and we reprint it as follows:

It is with heavy hearts and profound regret that Casper Fire- EMS announces the passing of our beloved co-worker, friend, and brother, Captain Matt Trott. Captain Trott passed away in the late hours on Saturday, April 22nd, 2017, after a long and brave battle with Pancreatic Acinar Cell Carcinoma. He was 46 years old.

Matt was hired on the Casper Fire-EMS department June 19th, 1995. He was promoted to Engineer just four years later on September 8th, 1999. He then attained the rank of Captain on January 1st, 2005. He advanced his certification in Emergency Medical Service to EMT- Intermediate, and also served diligently as a Child Passenger Safety Technician. Due to his illness, Matt’s long career with Casper Fire-EMS ended prematurely on March 6th, 2017 – after 21 years of dedicated service to the City of Casper.

We cannot yet comprehend the void that Matt’s absence will have on us. He was the ideal “Fireman’s Fireman.” Matt’s infectious positive attitude, brilliant tactical mind on the fireground, his mastery of sarcasm and scathing wit made for the type of firefighter and co- worker that made the days fly by at the fire station. Almost every one of his fellow firefighters can remember a time when they were left in hysterics thanks to Matt’s unmatched sense of humor.

Funeral service with full honors will take place at Restoration Church on Friday, April 28th at 2:00pm. Reception will follow at Three Crowns Golf Club. Bustard’s Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
