Everybody likes pizza. Or at least 95 percent of people do, according to Brian McCauley. This “no duh” realization came to McCauley as he and his family considered business opportunities in Casper.

With that in mind McCauley and his daughters, Nicole Boltz and Mindy McAuley, along with his son-in-law, decided to embark on opening the  New York style pizza restaurant Firehouse Pizza Wood Fired. To learn the craft they went to the source, taking classes at New York’s Goodfellas Pizza Pizza School and purchasing a custom brick oven that runs on gas and wood.

The food is all made in house at their restaurant in the Blackmore Marketplace in east Casper. The tomatoes are from Italy, the vodka sauce is made with real vodka (with the alcohol burned off), and the dough is made and set to rise for two days in the fridge for “the perfect cook”, according to McCauley.

The family is new to the restaurant business, so they decided to have a gradual open in April to work out the kinks. They’re having an official grand opening this Saturday, with special offers for the occasion.

Eventually they’d like to expand the menu that now includes salads to items like wings, which cook very well in the hot rotating oven according to McCauley.

Firehouse Pizza Wood Fired’s grand opening is from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at 395 Newport, Casper, Wyoming 82609, in the Blackmore Marketplace shopping center in east Casper.
