The Wyoming Symphony Orchestra performed a selection of well-known movie themes from science fiction and fantasy films during its first ever outdoor pops concert on Sunday, Aug. 20, at Washington Park.
Guest violinist Alexander Markov performed a classical showpiece during the first half, and returned in the second with a gold electric violin. Using an assortment of guitar pedals for distortion and delay, Markov was able to make his fiddle sound much like an electric guitar. He thrilled the sold out crowd with his wild hair and rock star stage presence.
The outdoor show was organized as a fund raiser for the symphony. More outdoor pops concerts are planned for next year.
