Photos: Caravan carries Wyoming Army National Guard soldiers to deployment

A caravan of Wyoming Army National Guard soldiers and their families was escorted by area law enforcement as they made the drive from the National Guard’s headquarters on CY Avenue to a hanger at the Natrona County International Airport on Thursday afternoon.

The Wyoming Army National Guard 2nd Battalion, 300th Field Artillery soldiers are deploying for military missions as part of forces assigned to the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.

The 160 soldiers and their families were given a public ceremony on Wednesday at Natrona County High School in honor of their deployment.

The soldiers will head to Cheyenne and then Fort Bliss, Texas, for mobilization training before going to Kuwait. From there they’ll be deployed to various U.S. activities in the Middle East for up to one year.

This is the sixth time the unit has been deployed since September 11, 2001.
