NCSD Public Information Officer Tanya Southerland said the district learned of the threat around 12:30 p.m.
The Casper Police Department issued a release saying they have the individual in custody who initiated the threat.
“This afternoon CPD became aware of a bomb threat at Dean Morgan Junior High School,” The CPD release states.
“CPD has the individual who initiated the threat in custody.”
They added that students had been evacuated and CPD and NCSD protocols are being followed.
“CPD is conducting a search of the facility to ensure it is safe for students,” the release adds. “Please do not try and access school grounds right now for security purposes.”
Southerland said that normal school operations have resumed, but that the district respects those parents and guardians who chose to come pick up their students early.
Parents are being asked to show identification before they can pick up their children.
The district asked that anyone not picking up students from Dean Morgan stay off the property.
“Tanya Sutherland, PIO for NCSD has notified all parents/guardians.”
