Deployment ceremony for Wyo Army Guard soldiers set for next month

A deployment ceremony for the Wyoming National Guard soldiers in the A Battery, 2nd Battalion, 300th Field Artillery unit has been scheduled for next month.

According to a Wyoming Military release, the ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m. on September 8th in the Clarion Inn at Platte River at 123 West E Street in Casper.

The public is welcome to the ceremony.

The soldiers will be assigned to the U.S. Central Command and head to Fort Bliss, Texas, for mobilization training before being deployed to the Middle East.

According to the release, the soldiers come from Colorado, Massachusetts, and the Wyoming communities of Buffalo, Casper, Cheyenne, Cody, Etna, Evansville, Fort Bridger, Gillette, Lander, Laramie, Newcastle, Riverton, Rock Springs, Sheridan, Thermopolis, Torrington and Worland.

The Clarion Inn is the former Parkway Plaza and is currently undergoing a renovation. Their website says it will open on Sept. 30. Oil City News has reached out to both organizations for clarification and will update this story with their comments.
