Pedro Mountain Fire sixty percent contained, closures lifted today

Firefighters are still working to extinguish the wildfire on Pedro Mountain that has been burning since August 24.

According to an update released today, evacuations and road closures will be lifted 2 p.m.

Areas includes Pedro Mountain Estates, Pedro Mountain Ranch Road, Cardwell Ranch, Natrona County Road 407/Cargon County 291 (Kortes Road,) and all roads west of the highway to Pathfinder Reservoir.

The release strongly recommends homeowners and travelers taking precautions.

Crews continue to secure hot spots near control lines, said the release.

Over 21,400 acres have burned and 292 personnel are working the fire, including two hotshot crews, 21 engines and two aerial resources.
