CASPER, Wyo. — Mountain Hops Brewhouse plans to bring new beer options to the Casper area.
The new business will receive a microbrewery liquor license after the city council approved their application on Tuesday, Feb. 4.
Eric Magnuson is owner of Mountain Hops Brewhouse. He has won a number of awards for his beers at festivals around Wyoming.
He attended the meeting and thanked the council for their consideration.
“To me this is more than just another brewery in this town,” Magnuson. “It is the culmination of 15 years.”
“Casper is still growing in the brewery sector. I believe there is still quite a bit more room for breweries even after me.”
Mountain Hops will be able to begin operating under the new license on April 1, though the city says renovations to their building are still underway and may not be complete until May.
The address for Mountain Hops Brewhouse is listed as 612 North Beverly Street.
Microbrewery licenses cost $500 and allow a business to sell only malt beverages. Casper is allowed up to 36 such licenses based on State of Wyoming population formulas.
“The microbrewery must brew at least 100 barrels and no more than 15,000 barrels per year,” the City of Casper explains.
