Council straw poll selects Freel to continue serving as Casper’s mayor

(Dan Cepeda, Oil City)

CASPER, Wyo. — The Casper City Council held a straw poll during their pre-meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 1 to cast preliminary votes for a new mayor and vice mayor.

The council voted to have current Mayor Steve Freel continue in that role. Freel would formally be named as mayor during the council’s first regular meeting in January.

Councilman Ray Pacheco was selected as the new vice mayor in the new straw poll. Pacheco would replace current Vice Mayor Khrystyn Lutz should the city council affirm the nomination in January.
