CASPER, Wyo. — The Casper City Council on Tuesday, November 2 authorized a $365,894 agreement with Pennsylvania-based Worldwide Industries Corporation to re-coat two water tanks in Casper.

City Manager Carter Napier explained to the council that the work is not as simple as an ordinary painting project and that this is the reason the cost may seem high.

Worldwide Industries submitted the lowest of nine bids to the city for the project:

The project will involve surface preparation and re-coating of the exterior of the Sunrise 1 South Water Storage Tank and the interior of the CY Water Storage Tank, according to city staff. Man-ways at both tanks will also be replaced as part of the project.

The city will utilize its Water Fund to pay for the projects. In addition to the contract amount, the city council approved of setting aside $30,000 for contingencies.

The city engineer’s estimate for the cost of the project was $445,000. Further details are available in the city council’s work packet.
