1 hospitalized after firefighters respond to two overnight fires in central Casper

CASPER, Wyo. — Casper Fire-EMS responded to two structure fires overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday.

According to a release, an apartment fire on the 1000 block of North Elma Street was reported at 11:42 p.m. on Tuesday.

The report said firefighters arrived to find that an oxygen concentration unit in an apartment had caught fire, which extended along attached tubing.

The fire was quickly extinguished and a resident was transported by ambulance to the Wyoming Medical Center with minor injuries.

The second fire, at the 300 block of North Beech Street, was reported at 12:29 a.m. on Wednesday.

The release says a mattress in an apartment had caught fire and was extinguished prior to the arrival of firefighters. Crews stayed on site to clear smoke from the building. No injuries were reported.

Both fires remain under investigation, the release said.
