CASPER, Wyo. — Visit Casper approved $20,000 to support six events hosted in Casper through summer 2022. The tourism bureau’s board unanimously approved the grant committees’ recommendations on Tuesday, December 14.

Board member Tiffany Gamble said the grant committee awards funds roughly based on a formula that considers how much lodging tax revenue the event will bring through the on hotel room bookings — the number of “heads in beds.” The sum of 4% state lodging tax revenues expected from the six events is $19,564 — based on $489,095 in total hotel booking revenue.

Grant applications are due before the event, though some grants are awarded for events that have already occurred.

The grant awards are as follows:

  • $2,500 for Amusement Operators of Wyoming — State Dart Tournament (February 16-20, 2022)
  • $500 for Amusement Operators of Wyoming — State 9-Ball Tournament (November 5-7, 2021)
  • $7,500 Amusement Operators of Wyoming — State 8-Ball Tournament (March 23-27, 2022)
  • $3,500 Casper Amateur Hockey Club — 2021-2022 CAHC Season
  • $2,500 Casper Soccer Club — 2022 Spring Jam
  • $3,500 Casper Soccer Club – Wyoming State Cup and Championship (May 29-31, 2022)

The Wyoming Chapter Oregon-California Trails Association requested $17,000; Kaufman said Visit Casper would be looking to support that event with business development funds.

The committee said that Windy City Wrestlers, which sought $5,000 for the Casper Showdown, did not meet the grant deadline.
