CASPER, Wyo. — Mills is challenging other county first responders to a chili cook-off, with proceeds from the event going into the city’s new disaster relief fund.

The Mills Burn Relief Fund has been created to help businesses and individuals get back to business as quickly as possible following damage from fire, flooding, wind, and other natural or manmade disasters. Any Mills business or citizen can apply for the funds. Approval is entrusted to the relief fund board, consisting of city officials including the fire chief, clerk, treasurer, mayor, and a city council member.

The event will be held at the Wagon Wheel skating rink (305 Van Horn Ave.) on Saturday, January 15 from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Skating, dancing, and drinks will also be available.

There will also be live and silent auctions, with prizes including:

  • Custom-built AR-15
  • Dinner at the Mills Fire Department
  • A ride to school on a fire engine
  • Weekend getaway to Rapid City

Entry into the competition is $25, and spectators ages 13 and up are $5 at the door. Ages 12 and under get in free.

A registration form is available here.
