CASPER, Wyo. — A walking tour to highlight plans for a future downtown center in Bar Nunn is set to take place on Wednesday, May 25 followed by opportunities for the community to help guide designs, according to a Thursday announcement from the Casper Area Metropolitan Planning Organization.

Bar Nunn’s population has tripled since 2000 and the Casper Area MPO, the Town of Bar Nunn and the consulting firm Y2 Consultants are working on plans to revitalize streets in the community, according to the announcement. The town’s main streets previously served as runways and taxiways for the former Wardwell Airfield.

The walking tour will be the start of a public workshop to give the community the opportunity to help guide planning for the town’s future, according to the MPO. The schedule for the May 25 workshop is as follows:

  • 4–5 p.m.: Walking Tour of the New Town Center
    • The walking tour, meant to show plans for Bar Nunn’s future downtown center, is scheduled to begin at The Hangar, 1410 Prairie Lane in Bar Nunn.
  • 5–6 p.m.: Presentation and social hour
    • Members of the design team will present study findings and design options.
    • Refreshments will be available.
  • 6–8 p.m.: Design charrette
    • Community members will asked to participate in a design workshop known as a charrette to help offer suggestions about designs and plans. Members of Y2 Consultants and Harmony Design & Engineering will work with participants during the session.

“Survey forms will be available for attendees to offer comments and suggestions,” the press release states.

People unable to attend the workshop in person can find surveys and learn more at the Bar Nunn Streetscape Revitalization Plan website.
