CASPER, Wyo. — The Town of Bar Nunn’s request for a $500,000 Business Ready Community grant to help build a new community center and town hall is not being recommended for approval.

The Wyoming Business Council Board of Directors makes recommendations to the State Loan and Investment Board regarding Business Ready Community grant and loan requests, but did not vote to recommend Bar Nunn’s request during its Sept. 8 meeting in Rock Springs.

Bar Nunn had requested the grant to help fund the construction of a building that would house both a new town hall as well as a community center, the WBC said in a press release Monday.

While Bar Nunn’s request was not recommended, the WBC Board of Directors recommended the City of Cody’s request for a $1 million grant to construct a new 16,000-square-foot facility to expand Wyoming Legacy Meats. That request will be considered by the SLIB for final approval during its Oct. 6 meeting.

The WBC Board of Directors also considered a request from the Meeteetse Joint Powers Board for a $750,000 grant to construct a new community center, but did not recommend this request to the SLIB, the press release said.

The WBC Board of Directors reviewed and approved a contract with the Wyoming Women’s Business Center for $246,616 during the Sept. 8 meeting. That contract will run from Oct. 1, 2022, to Sept. 30, 2024. The WBC also reviewed and approved Connect Wyoming program rules.

The WBC Board of Directors also approved the WBC’s first succession loan in the amount of $70,000. Such loans are available to eligible businesses and community organizations.

“The Wyoming Main Street Advisory Council also met in Rock Springs on Sept. 7, 2022, for their regular meeting,” the WBC said. “Meeting recordings are available on WBC’s YouTube channel. The WBC board’s next quarterly meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022, and will be held virtually. More details will be available on our website prior to the meeting.”
