CASPER, Wyo. — After closing this week for maintenance, the Casper Family Aquatic Center will reopen to the public earlier than anticipated, though memberships will still be extended for five days.

A critical pump for heating shower water in the Aquatic Center locker rooms has been in need of repair since October 2022 after a contractor knocked out underground wiring while working on the Highland Park tennis courts. That repair was delayed due to a number of factors, including inconvenience to patrons since maintenance would require shutting down the pool for presumably a week.

However, thanks to careful preparation by the city’s Building and Structures team, the repair has been completed two days earlier than anticipated, so the pool will reopen with regular hours to the public on Wednesday.

Aquatics supervisor Edwin Luers thanked Building and Structures for its efficient work.

“We really appreciate our swimmers’ patience through this inconvenience,” he said. “All memberships will be extended for five days to compensate for the closure.”
