CASPER, Wyo. — The Casper Police Department has received a $100,000 grant to address mental health among the state’s first responders and law enforcement officers.
The City of Casper approved the Wyoming Department of Health’s grant to the Casper Police Department at its regular meeting Tuesday.
The department’s proposal included hosting a statewide Mental Health and Wellness Conference in summer 2023, according to the memo from police officials.
The funds would also allow first responders and officers to attend regional Safety and Wellness Symposiums and get specialized training in critical incident debriefing and peer support.
The grant effort was spearheaded by CPD Captain Richard Brown, according to Chief Keith McPheeters.
