The Wyoming Department of Transportation has released statues updates for several local highway projects, saying that the lion’s share of the work will be done in time for the Eclipse.
According to an update on the project, sent to media on Monday, the Wyoming Boulevard-to-Robertson Road stretch of CY Avenue is scheduled to have both lanes of traffic open by the end of June.
The statement says that work will continue on the stretch after June, however the work will be taking place outside of the travel lanes. Currently the stretch of road has been reduced to a single lane in either direction. The work includes new asphalt, new turn lanes, and signal upgrades.
The WYDOT statement also advised of two upcoming projects.
The intersection of 12th street and Wyoming boulevard is scheduled to have work done, beginning on June 5th. New water lines are bing installed through the intersection, and the intersection will undergo reconstruction.
Traffic in this case will be reduced to one lane in either direction through the intersection. During the course of construction, there will be times of no access to 12th street from Wyoming Boulevard. Frequent area travelers are asked to consider alternate routes, pedestrians are asked to use the north-sidewalk along 12th Street. Construction is scheduled to be complete by August 21st.
Work will begin on the Old Yellowstone Highway/Old Glenrock Highway, including new asphalt from the area of Rocky Mountain Power to the Hat Six Interchange. During this time, travel will be reduced to one lane in either direction and will be subject to speed reduction. No business-access closures are planned, though the statement advises that there maybe times when crossovers are closed temporarily.
Work on this section of road is set to begin by the first week of July, and is scheduled to be completed by August 21st.
In the statement, WYDOT clarified that they are planning to stop working, where traffic is directly impacted, around the dates of the eclipse. Specifically, August 17th – 23rd.
WYDOT says this is to help minimize traffic issues and will include contractor work that might still be under way at the time.
