The Wyoming Eclipse Festival is seeking community volunteers to be official festival ambassadors August 18-21, 2017, during the 2017 Solar Eclipse and surrounding events.

Volunteers can sign up to work at festival information booths, operate at specific events as roaming ambassadors, or work as shuttle stop attendants. An official Wyoming Eclipse Festival volunteer shirt is included.

“The residents of Casper are proud of their community and Wyoming lifestyle.” said Wyoming Eclipse Festival executive director, Anna Wilcox. “We are excited to offer a great opportunity for the community to share that pride by getting personally involved in the eclipse viewer’s experience.”

An information and training session will be held in early August and will include a Certified Tourism Ambassador certification, through the Casper Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.

“The eclipse presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to give thousands of visitors a warm Casper welcome and to showcase not only our tourism assets, but the best of our entire community,” shares Brook Kreder, CEO of the Casper Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Eclipse Festival volunteers play a critical role in the successful execution of this event and will have an important impact on a guest’s experience while they’re here.”

Eclipse Festival officials described the following roles, in a written statement sent to media on Thursday:

  • Information Booth: Volunteers will be stationed at one of our Festival Information Booths armed with guides, maps and information specific to the festival and the activities and events planned. Booths will be set when you arrive and all materials and water will be provided. Feel free to bring your own bag chair. Perfect for groups or organizations to pair up.
  • Event Ambassador: You will be roaming versions of our Information Booth staff. You’ll make your way up and down 2nd Street welcoming visitors/attendees and answering questions or directing to the closest information booth.
  • Shuttle Stop Attendant: You’ll be situated at one of our many shuttle stops around Casper ensuring that visitors are waiting in a safe area, assisting the driver as needed and in direct communication with our Shuttle Manager if any issues should occur. Bring a chair, umbrella, sunscreen or anything else that would make your day comfortable.
