Casper area bars will be allowed to be open extended hours for the Sunday preceding the 2017 Eclipse.

At a Casper City Council meeting on Tuesday, the Council unanimously approved the measure that will allow Casper area bars to be open from 6:00 am to 2:00 am on August 20th.

Bars in Casper city limits are normally closed by 10:00 pm on Sundays. The new measure will extend those hours just for the one day.

The 2017 eclipse event is set to happen during the late morning hours on August 21st. Officials with the Wyoming Eclipse office are estimating approximately 35,000 tourists coming to Casper to witness the cosmic ballet.

Several festivals, events, and gatherings are being planned in conjunction with the Eclipse.
