CASPER, Wyo. — The Natrona County School District is inviting parents and guardians of children preparing to start kindergarten in fall 2023 to a number of Dual Language Immersion program informational meetings.

Attending a meeting is required for parents and guardians who want to enroll their child in one of the district’s DLI programs, according to NCSD. Meetings will be held at NCSD’s Central Services Facility, 970 N. Glenn Road, at the following times:

  • 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1
  • Noon and 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6
  • 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15
  • Noon and 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023
  • 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2023

Dual Language Immersion programs that start in kindergarten are offered at the following schools:

  • Paradise Valley Elementary School (Mandarin Chinese)
  • Park Elementary School (Spanish)
  • Verda James Elementary School (Spanish)

Students who go through a DLI program at the elementary level in grades K–5 can then continue in middle school with a Mandarin Chinese program offered at CY and a Spanish program offered at Dean Morgan.

“Students must be enrolled in the elementary program beginning in Kindergarten in order to be eligible to continue in middle school,” NCSD noted. “Parents and guardians must choose the DLI option during the School Choice Registration process and attend an informational meeting to be eligible for potential enrollment into the DLI program(s). If a family already has a student enrollment in the DLI program, the family does not need to attend a parent meeting or re-sign the commitment form.”
