CASPER, Wyo. — Families interested in the opportunity for kindergarten students to enroll in Dual Language Immersion programs offered by the Natrona County School District have four chances to attend required parent/guardian meetings.

Attending one of the meetings is required if families want to enroll students in the Mandarin Chinese DLI program at Paradise Valley Elementary School or Spanish DLI programs at Park and Verda James Elementary. The first meeting will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6 at the NCSD Central Services Facility, 970 N. Glenn Road in Casper.

NCSD is offering four meetings for families interested in enrolling kindergartens who will start school in fall 2023. All meetings will happen at NCSD Central Services. The full meeting schedule is as follows:

  • 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6
  • 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15
  • Noon and 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3
  • 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5

“Parents and guardians must choose the DLI option during the School Choice Registration process and attend an informational meeting to be eligible for potential enrollment into the DLI program(s),” NCSD said in a press release Tuesday. “If a family already has a student enrollment in the DLI program, the family does not need to attend a parent meeting or re-sign the commitment form.”

NCSD’s DLI programs start in elementary school and offer students the chance to continue at the middle-school level. The Mandarin Chinese DLI program is offered at CY Middle School, while the Spanish DLI program is at Dean Morgan. Students must have gone through the elementary-level program to continue into middle school.

The school district is inviting families of eighth-grade DLI students to some informational meetings that will focus on opportunities available to DLI students when they transition to high school. Those meetings will happen at NCSD Central Services at the following times:

  • Spanish: 5:30–6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6
  • Chinese: 6:30–7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6
