Volunteers, law enforcement officers, and athletes pose in front of city hall with the Wyoming Special Olympics Flame of Hope, in May of 2017 (Trevor T. Trujillo, Oil City)

Law enforcement personnel from Casper and Natrona County were on hand carrying the “Flame of Hope” in their leg of the Wyoming Law Enforcement Torch Run.

The purpose of the Law enforcement run is to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics Wyoming athletes. The Casper Leg began at 9:00 AM May 10th, at Wardwell Rd and Salt Creek Hwy, and ended at the Hat Six Travel Plaza. The Special Olympics torch will passed from one law enforcement agency to another until it is delivered to the opening ceremonies of the Special Olympics Wyoming State Summer Games in Laramie on Thursday, May 18th, 2017.

Special Olympics Wyoming is still seeking volunteers to assist with the games in Laramie. Details can be found in this Oil City story from May 9th.
