Wyoming Historic Trails Interpretive Center’s Mormon Trail Pioneers – Living History

  • “This year marks the 170th Anniversary of the 1847 Mormon pioneer vanguard company. The year 1847 saw the establishment of a permanent route as well as a gathering place near Salt Lake. Nearly 70,000 Mormon pioneers made the journey over a period of many years, some travelling from other countries. Join us as living history interpreters will be camped on site to discuss the epic Mormon Pioneer story.”

National Historic Trails Interpretive Center’s They Came by Handcarts – Patio Talk

  • “Between 1847 and 1860 over 80,000 members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) made the overland trek from the Eastern United States to the Great Salt Lake Valley. The vast majority of these Mormons traveled in traditional wagon trains. However, between 1856 and 1860 the Church leadership implemented a plan to bring 3,000 European converts to the Salt Lake Valley by pulling their worldly belongings in small wooden handcarts. Join us as living historian Dave Jamiel addresses several questions regarding why handcarts and what happened to these companies.”

  • “Winds of Summer Coed Softball Tournament
    Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Crossroads Softball Complex
    Casper, Wyoming (May 31, 2017) – The City of Casper Recreation Division is hosting the Winds of Summer Adult Coed Classic Softball Tournament Saturday, July 8, 2017. All games will take place at the Crossroads Softball Complex. Each team is guaranteed a minimum of three games.
    The entry fee for the tournament is $150.00 per team payable to the Casper Recreational Leagues Association (CRLA). Entry fees are accepted at the Casper Recreation Center, 1801 East 4th Street, Casper, WY, 82601. Online registration fees are accepted at www.crlasports.com.
    If the number of teams warrant it, multiple divisions will be offered. First, second, and third place teams in each division will be awarded. All entry fees are due by Friday, June 30, 2017. USA Softball Rules and umpires will be used.”
