Snowballs didn’t stop the pool balls this week.

The 25th Annual VNEA Wyoming State 8-Ball Pool Tournament kicked off Wednesday at the Casper Events Center as scheduled.

According to organizer Tom Tysver, only about 50 players couldn’t make it to the first day of competition on Wednesday because of weather.

By today the event was full, with more players competed last year, he said.

The Events Center is transformed into a huge pool hall, with 104 tables set up on the arena floor and in the Summit Room upstairs.

This is the second year the tournament has been held at the Events Center after years at the Parkway Plaza. Tysver says the organizers will meet in the summer to decide on future location changes, if any.

Team competition runs through Sunday afternoon, and a junior competition starts on Sunday morning.

The public is welcome to watch the games.
