Stravinsky’s “The Firebird” ballet at Casper College

Take a journey through Russian folklore with Stravinsky’s Firebird. The delightful and mystical journey of Prince Ivan is full of surprise, love, and mystery. This famous piece of music will come to life in the contemporary ballet of the same name creating the visual spectacle it was meant to be – in the form of dance and magic.

Rating: Ages 5 and up. Starts at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Laser Shows at the Casper Planetarium

Take your brain on a pulsing trip through great music and neon lights! Laser shows by Audio Visual Imagineering will be at the Casper Planetarium for one week only. We invite you to be a part of the 2019 CASA Red Wagon “Every Child”” Gala Friday, April 12, 2019.

Child abuse is devastating for the children who are victims, and to the community in which they live. Our Gala provides CASA Volunteer Advocates of Natrona County with the funds needed to be the voice for these children who need someone to speak on their behalf. Through our fundraising efforts, we can help provide Volunteer Advocates for the more than 300 children in foster care in Natrona County this year.

💔💔Casper friends: We have lost another child to suicide. We MUST unite as Christ-followers against this evil scourge in our community and in prayer for families impacted by suicide. Please see announcement below and be there if you can.

This Friday 4/12/19 at 5:00pm you are invited to join us in creating a prayer circle around Casper Classical Academy. Whether there is 5 of us or 50 we welcome ALL Churches, all denominations, all ages, to stand with us against the devastating hurt of suicide in our community. If you are unable to join in person we would love for you to pray where you are. Please pass on the invitation to your home church or share this on your own Facebook page if you feel led to do so. As we used to say during FCA-see you at the pole ❤️🙏❤️

This a grass roots effort and we are just helping spread the word.

Vibes Teen Open Mic Night

Join us at the VIBES studio Friday, April 12th from 7:30-10:00PM. We will have an open stage fully set with a piano, mics, amps, a PA system, and a drumset. Bring your gear and perform with your friends, showcase your original compositions, or grab a VIBES instructor and let the creativity flow!

*This event is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC and is a cool, laid back environment for teens to collaborate, perform, or just hangout and listen to the tunes. There is a sign up board next to the stage area, where we coordinate a rotation after every song – ALL teens are welcome to perform as much as they want!
*Teens that are currently enrolled at VIBES are FREE, non-vibes teens are $1 at the door, and all adults/siblings are $5 at the door! Specialty drinks and pizza available — CASH ONLY!

Red Butte + Oil City Outlaws at Frontier Brewing Company

Join two of Casper’s top brewery bands for a night of music, fun and fundraising to support Central Wyoming Rescue Mission and Wyoming Food For Thought. 15% of all sales between 6pm and 10pm will go to these great local organizations. Cowboys In Casper Scrimmage at NCHS

Wyoming Cowboy Football is holding an open scrimmage on Saturday, April 13! The scrimmage will be free and open to the public. It will kick off at 1 p.m. from Dick Cheney Alumni Field at Natrona County High School in Casper.

Cowboy Football and Pepsi are encouraging fans to bring a non-perishable food item to the game. Every fan who brings a non-pershiable food item will receive a coupon to get a free Pepsi product at the scrimmage.

The donated food will be given to Wyoming Food for Thought Project in Casper. Wyoming Food for Thought Project is an independently run, local non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded on the idea that a local solution to hunger is possible.

Boy Scouts First Ever Annual Easter Egg Hunt

Artcore presents Nathan Baker

Nathan Baker is the music theory coordinator at Casper College where he teaches courses in music theory, music technology, and film and video game music. He also teaches private lessons in trombone performance and music composition. In addition to his teaching and research (which will be featured in two forthcoming books on music theory pedagogy), Baker is an active performer on the trombone.

Baker is second trombonist with the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra, principal trombonist with the Casper Municipal Band, a member of the Dem Bones trombone quintet, and has played with the Yellowstone Big Band, the Blues Brothers, the Casper Brass and Storm Door Company, and in various musical theatre productions at Utah State University, the University of Oregon, and Casper College.

Baker is originally from Missoula, Montana and received the B.Mus. in music education and music composition from Utah State University in 2002, where he studied trombone with Dr. Todd Fallis; earned the M.A. in music theory from the University of Oregon in 2006, where he studied trombone with Dr. Jeff Williams; and completed the coursework for the Ph.D. in music theory and music history from the University of Oregon.

Pysanky Easter Egg Workshop at the NIC

Learn the art of Pysanky and create your own beautiful keepsake! Pysanky are Ukrainian Easter eggs, decorated with traditional Ukrainian folk designs using a wax-resist method. The instructor will explain Ukrainian Easter traditions and demonstrate each step of the art project. This workshop is perfect for beginners and experts alike! All materials are included!
Lisa McDonald is an expert in Ukrainian Folklore and has been teaching Pysanky design for over 30 years. Starts at 12:30 p.m. at the Nic.

Paws to Read: Storytime with Therapy Dogs at the Library

Dogs and handlers will attend StoryTime on the second Saturday of every month at 10:30 a.m. at the Natrona County Library. Children can sit with therapy dogs during StoryTime and spend time reading with them before and after the program. All dogs are certified and licensed through Therapy Dogs of Casper.
