Weekend events and music: Glow Skate, Chili cook-off, young Oilers hockey, and “Fluffy”

CASPER, Wyo. — Winter is rolling on through the Oil City and first of all, if you haven’t gotten to skate at David Street Station, this weekend is your last chance! The rink is going out in style this Friday night with neon lights as well as free admission and free skate rentals.

There’s also action on the ice at the Rec Center, as young Oilers hockey teams host the Casper Classic Jamboree. The highly-animated comedian Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias will perform Sunday at the Ford Wyoming Center.

“Glow Skate” at David Street Station

Admission and skate rentals will be free from 5-9 p.m. Friday, January 14 while Rocky Mountain Sound & Light provides the colorful lighting and live DJ.

“If you haven’t had a chance to take the ice this season, now is the time,” David Street Station said. The rink will be open from noon-9 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and Monday as well before closing for the season.

Youth Hockey tournament

Over 30 teams are in Casper for Casper Classic 6U/8U Jamboree.

Chili cook-off in Mills

Mills is challenging other county first responders to a chili cook-off, with proceeds from the event going into the city’s new disaster relief fund.

There will also be live and silent auctions, with prizes including a custom-built AR-15 and a weekend getaway to Rapid City. More information is available here.

Gabriel ‘Fluffy’ Iglesias performs at Ford Wyoming Center

Comedian and actor Gabriel Iglesias is bringing his all-new show to the Ford Wyoming Center Sunday, January 16. Noted for his clean and highly animated humor, Iglesias is one of America’s most successful stand-up comedians, performing to sold-out concerts around the world.
