Wyoming COVID-19 vaccination pace slows with ~3,000 people becoming fully vaccinated in past week

CASPER, Wyo. — The percentage of Wyoming residents who have been fully vaccinated rose to 38.2% as of Monday, October 4, according to the Wyoming Department of Health.

While an additional 3,001 people became fully vaccinated since the previous Monday, the pace of vaccination is slowing. In the week between September 20-27, the WDH reported that 3,405 people had become fully vaccinated. That was in turn less than the 3,494 people who became fully vaccinated from September 13-20.

A total of 221,078 Wyoming residents had been fully vaccinated as of October 4. The percent of Wyoming’s population that is fully vaccinated climbed 1.11% in the past week.

Teton County is leading the state with more than three of four residents fully vaccinated against COVID-19. 75.89% of people in Teton County were fully vaccinated as of Monday.

Five other counties have seen more than 40% of their populations fully vaccinated, but Teton is the only county with a fully vaccinated rate above 50%. The counties which are at or above 40% include:

  • Albany County: 48.98%
  • Hot Springs County: 42.44%
  • Sheridan County: 40.10%
  • Laramie County: 40.01%
  • Fremont County 40.0%

In Natrona County, 38.04% of people had been fully vaccinated as of Monday. The WDH reported an addition 369 people became fully vaccinated in Natrona in the last week. A total of 30,376 people in Natrona have been fully vaccinated.

The northeast part of state continues to lag behind the other counties in terms of overall COVID-19 vaccination numbers. Crook County had the lowest vaccination rate on Monday, with 21.64% of residents fully vaccinated. Campbell County had a fully vaccinated rate of 22.86%. Niobrara County is the only other county with a fully vaccinated rate under 25%, sitting at 24.32%.

Seniors age 65 and up continue to be the most likely to have been fully vaccinated in Wyoming. 69.6% of Wyoming residents born in 1956 or earlier are fully vaccinated, up 0.4% in the past week. 47.1% of adults 18 and up and 25.1% of people age 12-17 are also fully vaccinated.
