CASPER, Wyo. — Casper College is warming up for its annual Fall Collage Concert, themed “Coming and Going,” scheduled to be held at the Wheeler Concert Hall on Friday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. This free-to-attend event will showcase a diverse range of musical talents from the Casper College Collegiate Chorale, Chamber Singers, Contemporary Singers (Triple C) and Faculty Woodwind Trio.
Helmed by director Zachary Freeman, DMA, with the accompaniment of pianist Paula Flynn, attendees can expect an evening of melodious tunes from composers such as Randall Thompson, Anton Bruckner and Eric Whitacre, among others, according to a press release by Casper College.
The concert’s highlights include:
- A joint performance by the choirs with renditions of “The Last Words of David” and “The Road Home.”
- Collegiate Chorale’s trio of songs including Bruckner’s “Locus iste” and Whitacre’s “The Seal Lullaby.”
- Triple C’s diverse set featuring U2’s “MLK” and Quartel’s “The Bird’s Lullaby,” culminating with the iconic “Beyond the Sea,” which gained popularity through Bobby Darin in 1959.
- Chamber Singers delivering captivating numbers such as Williams’s “Rest” and Robert Schumann’s “Zigeunerleben.”
An additional musical treat for attendees will be the performance by the Casper College Faculty Woodwind Trio, composed of Joshua R. Mietz, (clarinet), Delores Thornton (flute), and Richard Turner (bassoon). They’ll be presenting Jonathan Cohen’s “Playdates for Flute, Clarinet, and Bassoon.”
The ensemble includes performers like sopranos Katie Baumstarck and Lucy Stephens and basses Collin Jones and Owen LaCount, among others, across the various singing groups.
The Wheeler Concert Hall is located in the Music Building on the Casper College campus. The event is the perfect opportunity to witness the local musical talents and enjoy a cultural evening on campus.
