Selling the #TacoJohn’s location at 766 CY Ave. was not an easy decision.

“CY has been a lot of history for us,” Lindsay Stilwell said. “It’s definitely sad to see it close, but it’s bittersweet in a way.”

The location closed as the company prepares to completely remodel its other locations in #Casper, Mills, Douglas and Worland, Stilwell said.

Several colorful hot-air balloons took to #Casper’s clear and calm skies early Friday morning as many looked on.

The early launch marks the return of the annual #casperballoonroundup which will take place each morning at around 6 through Sunday at the Murane Playing and Soccer Fields near Casper College and across from Marion Kreiner Park.

On Saturday, July 30, from 6 to 10 p.m., David Street Station will host a candlestick, and the balloon burners will light up the street. There also will be other related activities, the chamber said.

#UniversityofWyoming Professor of #Physics & #Astronomy Daniel Dale was backpacking in the Snowy Range last weekend when he suddenly spotted something moving in the moonless night sky.

“It was pretty insane,” he said, recalling the site of some 60 bright, low-orbiting #satellites in a perfect line speeding overhead.

#ElonMusk’s #SpaceX company is in the process of filling Earth’s orbit with their #Starlink satellites, which the company will use to provide high speed internet services to almost every underserved rural area on the planet. At least 2,500 have been placed into orbit already, and dozens more are lunched each week.

The vandalized Wellspring Health Access clinic on 2nd Street in #Casper was a magnate for both pro-choice and pro-life protesters on Thursday following a #Wyoming Ninth District Court ruling on Wednesday that issued a temporary restraining order blocking Wyoming’s abortion ban from taking effect.

According to WyoFile, the order came after attorneys for two people suing the state told the judge that Wyoming’s #abortion ban, which was set to go into effect today, violated the Wyoming Constitution, which guarantees individuals the right to make their own #healthcare decisions.

Tensions were at times raised as a few members of each group traded insults and tussled to get their signs in front of each other. Mostly it was peaceful, with each side falling into its own group as cars honked or revved engines.

#Casper-based Eval.com, a company that does evaluations related to #realestate appraisal, has been experiencing rapid growth and has been offering a new career path for people just out of high school and others who used to work in other fields.

The company recently moved its offices to a building that previously housed Casper Housing Authority offices at 145 N. Durbin St. in downtown Casper. Part of the reason for the move was to allow for growth.

Eval.com had about 33 employees at the end of June, when Oil City News sat down with founder and CEO Deb Clark. The new office space has room for 70–80 employees and Clark said Eval.com expects to fill those positions within 24 to 36 months.

#NatronaCounty Sheriff’s Office #Deputy Tyler Ludwig graduated from Peace Officer Basic Class 22B160 on Thursday morning, according to the NCSO.

Ludwig was nominated by Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy instructors for the Honor Graduate Award, the highest honor offered by the WLEA, NCSO added.

“Please join us in congratulating him on his great efforts and accomplishments at the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy,” NCSO said.

Some downtown #Casper businesses are catering to the video game culture, offering space for #esports tournaments and casual gaming.

The Void, which offers a range of activities geared toward young adults, hosted a #videogame tournament on Saturday at the venue’s 128 E. 2nd St. home. The Void set up its own GG Esports account that allows players to track their rankings against other competitive gamers across the country, co-owner Breckyn Burke-Simmons said last week.

Frontier Brewing Co. is also offering the chance for people to play video games at its new location inside the old Fox Theater, 150 W. 2nd St. People can play #Nintendo Switch games on the big screen inside of the theater any time that’s not in use for other events, Asia Eisenbraun, Frontier’s general manager, said Wednesday.

Tayvian Lopez, a 12-year-old Casper skateboarder and entrepreneur, broke his finger skateboarding a month ago and had to get stitches.

Nothing about the pain associated with breaking a bone was apparent in Lopez’s mood on Monday — he was overflowing with joy and enthusiasm when talking about @shreddithskateco, a company he founded with the help of his parents, Juan and Delicia Lopez.

The #NatronaCounty Fire District is sending three firefighters to the #Sugarloaf #Fire, according to a media release.

The fire is on the Laramie Peak Unit of the Medicine Bow National Forest, some seven miles southwest of Laramie Peak and five miles southwest of Friend Park Campground, and is now at about 396 acres.

There were no injuries in separate Sunday evening #fires that burned about 40 acres, destroyed two vehicles and led deputies to prepare a subdivision for evacuation, the #NatronaCounty Fire District said Monday.

On Thursday, a fourth-generation Wyomingite’s vision clinic is holding its grand opening in #Casper with an eye for western heritage.

Powder Horn Eye Care previously operated out of the east-side Casper Walmart before moving to its new 4621 Wyoming Blvd. location between Blue Ridge Coffee and Medicap Pharmacy. Dr. Jason Whitman, OD, and his wife Hannah wanted the interior of the new clinic to honor the aesthetic feel of the American West.

“I came to Casper in 2012,” Jason Whitman said on Thursday. “Prior to that, I’d been in Cody practicing since 2004, and I’m fourth generation. We were inside the east-side Walmart for a decade and then after COVID and everything, I decided I really wanted to do my own thing.”

After about a year of work preparing its warrior-themed shop in downtown #Casper, Barbarian Coffee Roasters is nearly ready to open.

The Casper Area Chamber of Commerce will help with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the roastery and coffee shop during its grand opening on Tuesday, July 26, owners Jon and Gayle Ramsey said on Friday. Barbarian Coffee Roasters is located at 136 S. Center St.

Jon started roasting out of the family’s kitchen a few years ago before expanding into the garage. His introduction to coffee happened one night while working as a police officer in North Carolina.

Nearly 100 people from multiple states are in Casper for the 2022 Wyoming State Sporting Clays Championship.

The competition started on Thursday morning at the Casper Skeet Club and continues through the final championship rounds on Sunday, according to #Casper #Skeet Club vice president Bo Bohannon.

The Nicolaysen Art Museum will host a “NIC Nite” event open to the community starting at 5:30 p.m. Friday, July 22.

Artist María Cristina Mercado will begin painting a new mural on a west wall of the museum during the NIC Nite event. Mercado is a Mexican artist and educator who works as a painting and sculpture professor at the University of Guadalajara, according to the museum.

Music from Joey Patterson will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday. That will be followed by a reading of “Jumanji” by Natrona County Library staff. There will also be a raffle of a Jumanji-themed basket, and a screening of the film featuring Robin Williams will begin at sunset, according to the museum.

Board games will be available in the lobby of the museum, while food will be available from Papa’s Pork Chop food truck. Beer will be available from Gruner Brothers Brewing.

On Saturday, Oil City Cycles will hold the grand opening of its new shop at 300 Delmar St. in #Mills.

The shop will specialize in services for #motorcycles, but owner Reggie Henderson said Tuesday he can handle pretty much anything with wheels and an engine.

“I do tires, I do oil changes, motor work for motorcycles,” Henderson said inside his new shop. “I’ll work on a lawnmower if it pays me. So yeah, I do anything. It’s motorcycle focused, but in a wintertime, I’ll work on cars.”

“#Rent” is the largest production that Opera Wyoming has ever put on, and it came together in less than five weeks.

“I joked in the beginning, and it turned out to be true, that I was just gonna get as many talented people as I could together and then at the end say, ‘Yeah, look what I did!'” director Steven Spicher said.

Spicher and the producers of the show, Emily and Daniel Quintana, were able to use the “sweet spot” they find themselves in some years to find age-accurate talent.
