CASPER, Wyo. — The Natrona County School District is implementing a Virtual Learning Day for Wednesday, April 5 as snow continues to fall and travel remains hazardous countywide.

In the announcement, school officials said the decision came after “careful evaluation and review of the record-breaking snowstorm and continued hazardous weather and road conditions impacting Natrona County.”

All district schools and buildings will remained closed Wednesday and transportation services will not run. After-school activities have also been canceled.

“The majority of our schools are located in residential areas. The drifts, impassable streets, and other weather conditions present a safety concern to the transportation of students and staff. These teams are working dedicatedly to keep major thoroughfares open, and understandably, it is not believed side streets will be cleared by the start of school tomorrow,” the district’s announcement stated.

The district’s weather team will monitor projected weather conditions with other community agencies and the National Weather Service, according to the announcement.
