CASPER, Wyo. — The Casper Ice Arena is welcoming the Casper Roughnecks for their upcoming season. The Roughnecks’ home opener is on Sep. 22 at 7:30 p.m. against the Rogue Valley Royals of the United States Premier Hockey League.

Season tickets are now available on their website and social media pages, providing early access to all home games, special perks and exclusive player sessions throughout the season, according to a Casper Recreation press release.

The Roughnecks are also seeking host families for players. Host families will receive a monthly player stipend of $400 along with season tickets and merchandise.

“Billet families are vital to the success of our club and we recruit talented hockey players with a high level of maturity,” Roughnecks head coach Danny Randall said.

As the team prepares for this year’s season, it is looking to expand its front office staff with openings for scorekeepers, security personnel, announcers and a social media manager. Randall emphasized the importance of finding the right fit for the social media position.

“Our club is looking to fill these roles, especially the social media position, [which requires] someone who is able to create content that speaks to Casper,” he said.

For those interested in becoming a host family, gameday staff member or corporate event planner, contact Randall at danny@casperroughnecks.com or 630-621-7952.

More hockey experiences

The Casper Ice Arena is also gearing up to welcome more hockey enthusiasts for the 2023–24 season. The Learn-To-Play Hockey program, Mile High Mites, is set to start in August. The program offers youth athletes a chance to experience ice hockey with a full set of hockey gear and six practices at the Casper Ice Arena.

Each Saturday morning from Aug. 12 to Sep. 24, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., the program will teach age-appropriate hockey fundamentals, including skating, shooting and teamwork.

“Giving the gift of hockey is one of the most rewarding parts of my job,” said Chad Green, the ice arena manager.

The player registration deadline for Mile High Mites is July 29.

Young hockey enthusiasts can join the Casper Amateur Hockey Club for the upcoming youth hockey season. The club will have open registration for the Casper Oilers teams, catering to ages 4–18 in multiple divisions and experience levels. New skaters are welcome in age divisions from 6 to 12, and the club also offers a girls-only hockey program.

The Casper Hockey season commences on Sept. 10 and runs through the first week of March 2024. On Aug. 28 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the club will host an open house, extending a welcome to all players and athletes interested in playing hockey this season.
