The National Weather Service offices in Riverton have issued the following Special Weather Statement affecting areas in and around Casper:
“West to southwest winds are expected to increase this afternoon to 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph at times before decreasing around sunset. Travelers on area roads, especially those towing trailers and in high profile vehicles, are urged to watch for strong crosswinds when traveling this afternoon.”
In the NWS forecast, we’re looking at a 30% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms for Wednesday night (5/24/17). Some of the storms could produce small hail and gusty winds. Low temperatures expected around 43. West winds at 18 to 28 mph decreasing to 6 to 16 mph during the overnights. Winds could, however, gust as high as 39 mph.
For your Thursday, Mostly sunny, with a high near 65. West northwest wind 6 to 13 mph. Into Thursday night, conditions will swing mostly cloudy, with a low around 37. North wind 8 to 13 mph becoming east after midnight.
A 40% chance of showers for your Friday, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 57. Breezy, with an east wind 10 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
