CASPER, Wyo. – While temperatures won’t be as high today as they were on Tuesday, the National Weather Service in Riverton is still warning of high fire danger.

The NWS has put much of central and southern Wyoming under a Red Flag Warning through Wednesday evening, with low humidity and wind gusts up to 40 mph expected in Natrona County.

Wednesday’s high will reach 87 degrees. A high of 88 degrees is expected tomorrow, and 93 degrees on Friday.

Temperatures are expected to reach the 90s through the weekend and into next week, says the NWS, with no signs of significant moisture in the forecast.

Numerous small fires have been reported around the region, and multiple agencies fought a grass fire between Casper and Glenrock that temporarily closed US 20 in both directions on Tuesday afternoon. No cause or word of possible damage has been issued as of Wednesday morning.
