CASPER, Wyo. — Wyoming is seeing some hurricane force winds on Wednesday with 93 mph gusts recorded west of F.E. Warren Air Force Base, according to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne.
Category 1 hurricane winds are winds 74-95 mph. Category 2 hurricane winds are 96-110 mph.
Strong winds are reported on I-25 from Cheyenne to Buffalo and on I-80 from Elk Mountain to Cheyenne with gusts reaching above 70 mph in some areas.

Extreme blow over risk advisories are in effect on those stretches of I-25 and I-80 which are closed to light, high profile vehicles according to the Wyoming Department of Transportation.
“High Wind Warnings remain in effect through Thursday evening for Southeastern Wyoming and through Friday morning for the Nebraska Panhandle,” the NWS in Cheyenne says.
A high wind warning is also in effect for much of central and northern Wyoming, according to the National Weather Service in Riverton.
