CASPER, Wyo. — Hogadon Basin Ski Area reported on Monday morning that snow was falling on Casper Mountain.

“It’s here,” Hogadon said. “Starting to snow on the chair. Winter predictions for this season? Deep? Dry? Windy? Cold?”

Hogadon shared video of the early autumn snowfall via Facebook:

There is a chance for some more rain and snow on Casper Mountain on Monday evening, according to the National Weather Service in Riverton. There is a 30% chance of precipitation on Monday night.

The NWS in Riverton said in a special weather statement on Monday afternoon that it had received reports of a cold air funnel reaching the ground in the Casper area. Readers have submitted photos and a video of the cold air funnels spotted near Casper Mountain.

“Colder air and convection behind yesterday’s cold front have brought a good combination for these cold air funnels to develop briefly,” the NWS in Riverton said. “Any funnels that do form will have difficulty reaching the surface, and any that do reach the ground are expected to only bring very brief gusty winds and blowing dust.”
