CASPER, Wyo. — The Wyoming Medical Center said on Monday evening that it would be temporarily closing drive-through respiratory symptom screening clinics at its Mesa Primary Care/Immediate Care clinic and its Sage Primary Care clinic due to thunderstorms.

The Casper area has seen some volatile early autumn weather on Monday, including cold air funnel activity and hailstorms.

While the WMC’s drive-through clinics are closed on Monday evening, people can still go inside either the Mesa or Sage clinics until 8 p.m. Monday for respiratory symptom screening.

The drive-through screening clinics are expected to re-open at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

The WMC is offering the clinics for people experiencing respiratory symptoms such as cough, fever or sore throat. COVID-19 tests are available at the clinics.

People experiencing suspected heart attack, stroke, breathing distress or other medical emergencies should call 911, the WMC says.

When the Sage and Mesa drive through clinics reopen on Tuesday, people should refer to the following for access information.

  • Sage Primary Care
    1020 S. Conwell St.
    Open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Enter Melrose from 12th Street, then enter the alley from 10th Street
*Please do not back up traffic on Conwell Street
  • Mesa Primary Care / Immediate Care
    3632 American Way
    Open every day, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Enter second driveway entrance to get in line for testing

The WMC says that patients at the drive-through clinics will be evaluated in their cars in order to determine whether the person needs to come inside the clinic or can remain in the car for further evaluation and/or testing.

“Lines may be long,” the WMC says. “Please be patient. Our staff is working very hard to keep up with the demand. We appreciate your patience and cooperation.”

“Call (307) 233-0202 with questions or for more information. If the phone line is busy or not answered, please be aware that call volume is high. Please report to the clinic in person and proceed through the drive-through lines.”
