CASPER, Wyo. — Strong winds with gales up to 70 mph are possible on Interstate 80 in southeast Wyoming from late Thursday night through 6 a.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service in Riverton.

West winds at 30-40 mph with gusts up to 70 mph are expected on the stretch of I-80 from Laramie to Rawlins, particularly in the Arlington and Elk Mountain areas. The NWS in Riverton adds that the winds could impact the north Snowy Range foothills.

“Strong cross winds will be hazardous to lightweight and high-profile vehicles, including campers and tractor trailers,” the NWS in Riverton said. “There will be a high risk for vehicle blow overs, particularly along Interstate 80 near Arlington.”
